Strahan Golf Course

Played Sunday, March 1, 2020.

Strahan Golf Course is probably the pick of the four Tasmanian West Coast courses.

While the first few greens are a bit scratchy the remainder are quite okay – although a bit slow and furry when Tim and I played. The morning dew didn’t help either and we both struggled finding the pace.

The fairways were mossy and surprisingly wet for March. Trees supplied most of the challenges with some narrow tee locations that rewarded initial straight hits while the fairways widened tolerating fades and draws at the end. A number of tees had intimidating hazards crossing in front them.

While there were a couple of bunkers they really didn’t come into play which was good as most were in poor condition.

We were both pretty happy with the course. Tim had some big drives and scored a number of pars and a birdie on the left dog-leg sixth while I registered a series of tap-in bogeys in the final holes.

The green fees were $10 and a couple of players were enjoying the layout with us.
